As autumn approached, we celebrated gardens and all things that grow. Popular songs with afternoon tea and cake in a wonderful historic building. Who could ask for more?

The choir sang:

  • ‘Make Our Garden Grow’ (Bernstein, from ‘Candide’)
  • ‘In An English Country Garden’ (Percy Grainger / trad)
  • ‘The Evening Primrose’ (Britten)
  • ‘The Salley Gardens’ (Britten )
  • ‘Edelweiss’ (Richard Rodgers, arr. John Cavacas)
Our soloists sang:
  • ‘Lilac Wine’ (Sharon Bowen)
  • ‘London Pride’ (Martin Humphreys)
  • ‘I won’t send roses’ (Simon Herbert)
  • ‘Where e’er you walk’ (Simon Herbert)
  • ‘Inchworm, inchworm’ (John Besford)
  • ‘Heidenroslein’ (Olivette Cole-Wilson).
