Find Out: Why Marry in Church?

What Happens Next?

If one of you lives in the parish, is a member of the church’s Electoral Roll or has a strong link with the church, the procedure is straightforward.
You must fill in an application form and the Rector will explain the legal requirements.

The announcement that you plan to marry (Banns) is made in church on three Sundays. If there is no legal objection, the wedding can then take place within three months.

If one of you lives in another parish, the banns will have to be called there too.
If one of you not a British Subject you will have to apply for a licence from the Registrar General in Tower Hamlets, instead of banns. This might take a little longer. The Rector will explain the procedure.

The basic cost of the wedding is:
Calling of banns £30
Marriage Service £455
Organist £100
Bells £160
Car parking £20
Making a video or audio recording £50
The money must be transferred at least a month before the day of the wedding. For our account details contact bowchurch@gmail.com.
For more information, please see our table of fees.
