Richard Albert Ward

1894–26 October 1915

Father: Charles W Pardon.

Born in 1894 in Lambeth, the second son of Charles and Mary Ward. In 1911 he was living at 26 Wood Street, Lambeth. A single man, he was at that time working as a potters labourer. Enlisted in Bow.

London Regiment 1/17 Bn/ No 1875 (4857 on CWGC)

Rifleman Ward died at the Battle of Loos. He left his father his £3 war gratuity and settled a debt to Dr Valance of 19/2d. It is believed that this is Dr Ernest Vallance LRCP, surgeon and doctor at the West Ham Infirmary, Leytonstone
