Born in Shoreditch in 1895, the second son and one of six children of Elizabeth Robinson. In 1911 Henry was employed as a baker and confectioner and living with his widowed mother and younger brother, Frederick, at 2 Lockhart Street, Mile End Old Town. He left £6.3.7d + £7.10d war gratuity to his mother and £2.1.3d each to his brother Sidney and his sisters Christabel White, Lily Page and Amy Bartlett.
